Trademark Application Template for a SaaS Brand
Standard goods/services list for class 9 + 42 SaaS trademark filings.
When to use this template: Use when filing a wordmark or logo for a software/SaaS product. Almost every SaaS files in classes 9 (downloadable software) and 42 (SaaS services), and the USPTO has standard ID Manual entries for both -- this template uses them so you avoid the most common rejection (vague goods/services).
# Trademark application: [BRAND NAME] ## Mark [BRAND NAME] -- [wordmark | standard character | stylized logo] ## Filing classes - **Class 9** (downloadable software) - **Class 42** (SaaS services) ## Goods / services description (Class 9) > Downloadable computer software for [specific function, e.g. "managing customer relationships", "tracking inventory", "scheduling appointments"]; downloadable mobile applications for [same]. ## Goods / services description (Class 42) > Software as a service (SAAS) services featuring software for [same specific function]; providing temporary use of non-downloadable software for [same]. ## Specimen guidance - For Class 9: a screenshot of the download / install page showing the mark adjacent to the download button. - For Class 42: a screenshot of the SaaS web app showing the mark in the header AND a URL bar with the live domain. ## Filing basis - [ ] 1(a) -- in use in commerce (preferred) - [ ] 1(b) -- intent to use (Statement of Use due within 6 months of NoA) ## Notes - TEAS Plus ($250/class) is cheaper if you use ID Manual entries verbatim. The descriptions above are pre-vetted. - Your specimens MUST show the mark IN USE for the goods/services -- a marketing page or pitch deck is not a specimen.
