Independent Contractor Agreement Checklist: Deliverables, Payment, IP, and Classification
Review the actual working relationship before relying on an independent-contractor label. Then define deliverables, acceptance, payment, changes, intellectual property, information handling, and termination. Federal tax, wage, and state classification tests may differ. Paying for work does not by itself transfer copyright, and not all commissioned work qualifies as work made for hire.
